Movie research: Intrusion

Image
Convections In This Movie: medium close up voice over  dialogue jump shot non-diegetic sound  over the shoulder insert diegetic sound Convections I liked:  I like the non-diegetic sound of the suspense music in the background. I like all the props that were inserted to make an effect in the movie like that package. I like I also like the voiceovers giving the audience a deeper connection with the narrator and her thoughts and feelings. I also liked the variety of transitions between each scene.  I didn't like how predictable the film was removing some of the suspense the movie could've had. In my opinion, the movie plot was very basic being that the husband was one of the criminals. As I was watching for the first time there weren't many plot twists that shocked me because the movie was so predictable.

Movie research: level 16

Convections in this movie: low lighting low angles jump cut high angle diegetic sound ambient sound dialogue Convection I liked:  I like the low lighting because it sets the scenes and adds a dramatic effect. I also like the diegetic sound of the screaming in horror from the actors in the movie. Another  thing I like is the dialogue because it gives u a sense of how isolated these girls were because the would call everyday objects we are familiar with something different. Convections I didn't like: Something I don't like is the ambient sound it’s constantly playing and it’s very eerie and makes me believe something unexpected will happen. I also don’t like how the phrase a clean girl is constantly repeated in the scenes throughout. I didn’t like some of the acting because it was kind of unbelievable.

Movie research: Leave the world behind

Convections in this movie: high angle establishing shot close up ambient sound sound bridge  low lighting dialogue diegetic sound action match Convection I liked:  I like the high-angle tracking shot that spins and moves with the character. I like it when the ambient sound plays before something happens. It adds anticipation, like foreshadowing. The diegetic sound of the radio buffering made it creepy because the husband just missed the broadcast and remains unaware. I loved the different camera angles. It would be vertical, horizontal, upside down, or tilted. Convections I didn't like: I didn't like how the scenes kept changing between each person. It added a lot of suspense because the ambient sound got faster and louder. The constant change was stressful and hard to keep up with.

Genre Decision:

Image
Genre Decision:  After a lengthy discussion, we chose to do a thriller film. When planning potential pitches, this genre was the one who thought of more ideas. We could think of more ideas and visualize how the story will go. Also, this project, like our last, will allow us to connect with friends while making a great film. Hope to make this film as successful as our music video or better, and have fun doing it. I plan to watch some thriller movies to better understand how I should film this. Stay tuned.

Genre: Action

Commom Camera Angles Low Angle Over-the-shoulder shot Close up Medium Shot High Angle Tracking Shot Common Mis-En-Scene Backlighting  Props(phones, cars, masks, computers, masks, weapons...) small towns Hero & Villian Common Editing Cross cut jump cut establishing shot Common Sound  dialogue dietetic sounds  music ambient noise Examples:  Star wars Bullet train Die Hard The Adam project Elements I like:  This may sound childish, but my favorite convection is the actors, specifically the main hero and villain. They bring so much meaning to the movie that there would be no movies without them. Elements I don't like:  I do not like it when the fighting looks fake or when the sound effects sound really animated.

Genre: Thriller/ Horror

Genre: Thriller/ Horror Common Camera Angles  tracking shot close up long shot mid shot low angle: high angle  establishing shot Common Mis-En-Scene  antagonist (dark clothing), protagonist (normal clothing )  low lighting  gun, knives, blood,  houses, forests,  Editing Cross-cutting  Jump cut action match Sound tension music  diegetic sound dialogue  non-diegetic sound ambient sound voice over  sound bridge Examples: Five Nights at Freddy's  The Fallout  Sound of Freedom Run Parasite  Elements I like:  I like the voiceovers because they make what is going on in the film easier to understand and give insight into the main character and their thoughts and feelings.  Elements I don't like :  I don't like the tension music for some reason it scares me before the scarier science even plays. I don't like the props they are a little too violent for me but then again I think I just don't like things I associate with scary.

Genre Research: Comedy

Common camera angles:   zoom in/out  pan tilt tracking shot high/low angles Common Mis-En-Scene: make-up-colorful costumes-bright colors props-anything Editing: cutting special effects split screen jump cut sound  dialogue sound bridge sound motif voiceover ambient sound examples 21 jump street Barbershop Friday Coming to America White chicks Elements I like: An element I like is the creativity of comedy movies. Something unexpected could happen that would have me laughing really hard.  Elements I do not like: I don't like it when there isn't enough visual comedy. when movies rely mainly on dialogue to be funny, it can become boring because they are just talking, and jokes can easily go over your head.

Our Pitch

Image
Pitch 1:  A girl comes from the gym at night and gets kidnapped, but who sets her up? Pitch 2: A friend group is at a sleepover comforting one of their friends because of the death of her sister, but she is really dead? Pitch 1: after her workout session, she walks home. Since it's late, she calls her friend to stay on the phone with her as she walks. While she's walking, she gets kidnapped. She is tied up with something covering her head. When she finally wakes up, and the kidnapper takes off the head covering, she realizes it's her crazy ex.   Pitch 2: A group of friends are having a sleepover to comfort their friend who recently lost her sister. The friends are trying to lighten the mood and get her into the Christmas spirit. They listen to music, eat snacks, and play games when suddenly, there is a ring at the doorbell. They look at the camera and see no one but a small box. When they open the door and pick up the box, the note reads, "Merry Christmas from the sist

For this final task, I will partner up with my friend Felisha. I picked Felisha because I've known her for a long time, and even our parents know each other. Since they know each other, they will be fine taking us places to work on this final task. Felisha is a hard worker who can come up with great ideas. Felisha and I have great chemistry when it comes to projects like this. As I mentioned, Felisha had terrific views, and I can expand on those ideas. We worked together on the music video and had no problems with each other. We were able to finish filming in a timely manner which gave us a lot of time to go to the mall and hang out. Felisha is an efficient worker, and we were able to finish writing our blogs and films early. This gave me a lot of time to edit the video.  Felisha and I are going to be behind the scenes. We will write the scripts, find the actors, film, and edit for this final task. In our music video, the actors were Chatae, Lelia, Jaiden, Avione, and his little b

Hello, I'm back, and this time, I am doing my final task. I enjoyed making my music video, and I hope you enjoyed it. My name is Kaydiane Coleau, and in this blog, I will tell you a little about myself. I was born on February 7, 2007, in Florida, which makes me 16 years old. Currently, I'm a junior at Fort Lauderdale High School. I'm taking 3 AICE classes this year - Media Studies, English Language, and Thinking Skills - and I'm excited to complete these classes to receive my AICE Diploma.      One of my favorite things to do is cooking. I've loved cooking since I was a kid, and I always helped my mom in the kitchen. She mainly, which is also my favorite kind of music. Haitian food is something I want to learn to make, but it can be complicated. I also enjoy rap, R&B, and gospel music, but I like listening to any genre. Spending time with my friends and family is another thing that I love to do. It's a great way to relax, smile, and have fun, especially aft
